Akihiko isn't a cruel or sadistic person, infact he's generally warm, charismatic and charming, but he also lives several lives at once. On the surface he's sweet and friendly, but his masks change depending on whom is around and what his current task is. His mind is a mess of overlapping commands and priorities that shift his personality to fit as needed.

Backstory

Akihiko's upbringing wasn't much of a happy one. The son of an incredibly prominent merchant, a man who lead guilds and made deals around the world, the man loathed his son. Their interactions varied from cold indifference, absolute ignorance or downright abusive. In his teenage years, Akihiko rebelled, getting tattoos and piercings that his traditional father hated him for, threatening to oust his son and disown him, convinced only to let him remain by the pleading of his mother.By the time he turned 20, his father had seemingly gone through a rapid change. Still obsessed with the profit of his mercantile empire, he now had a deep seated need to involve his family, and through that Akihiko was able to prove himself quite the skilled problem solver. Given free reign to solve problems how he saw fit, the operation of the family business flourished like never before, which earned the man more and more free reign over his actions; the once-stoic man now brimming with a newfound pride in his son.

Akihiko travels frequently all around the world now, pursuing new ventures for the family to get involved in, as well as maintaining business connections and solving problems all across the world.

Deep-Lore: Backstory

-In truth, Akihiko is the adopted son of his 'father', which is the reason for the man's original dislike of the boy; love and obsession for his mother didn't translate to affection for her son, taken to her home of Kugane after fleeing a cult in Ishgard.During his rebellious years as a teen, Akihiko found he had strange abilities, he could see and sense aether and had a darkness inside him, something that sought to devour aether, to stalk and hunt prey. These abilities were honed after meeting a man whom claimed to be his real father, and soon he found himself under the man's thrall.Speaking of his grand plans, Akihiko was trained and given the task of sowing chaos in a very specific way for very specific people, and as his final acts before leaving, his father enthralled his adopted father and changed their relationship before using his own power to erase himself from their memories, even as his instructions remained as pulls in the mind of the boy. His newfound freedom to travel simply a means to an end, to find others related to himself and sow this chaos, as well as keep his abilities fed on the aether of people he dealt with.

Kugane: Being from an affluent family in Kugane, it's easily possible to have a connection to Akihiko or his family/business.Legitimate Business: Akihiko travels the world for the family's legitimate business interests, spreading roots, sowing chaos and solving problems from the mundane to the murderous.Underworld: Not all of the family's business is legitimate.Aether: Perhaps your aether is simply too sweet for him to resist feeding upon.Barfly: Akihiko spends a lot of time in bars; great places to find people and information of interest to him.
